Astrology part 1: Planets and Signs

Astrology is the study of cycles. Over thousands of years, humans have noticed synchronicity between planetary cycles and cycles of life on earth. Astrologers study the patterns, and then use their knowledge to help others.

Like other forms of divination, astrology can be used to define certain energies or influences present in a person's life, but won't say how that person will use them. Astrology can help present you with all the information you need, but you need to make the final decision.

Most people's knowledge of astrology is limited to the horoscope in the local paper. But it is much more than that.

Astrology can be used to examine your character, strengths and weakness, major events in your life, and to help you make decisions, along with, of course, your horoscope.

A chart interpretation can give you a fairly complete look at your life by filling in the What, Where, How and When.

The Planets

The word "planet" is Greek for "traveler." Astrologically speaking, any body which moves across the sky is a planet; thus for astrological purposes, the Sun and Moon are also planets (though technically they are luminaries).

The planets represent a need you have. It is the "What?" or the noun of our equation. When linked with the sign and the house, it tells you where that need is and how to fulfill it.
